What We Help You Fix

Most obedience issues are not stubbornness — they come from unclear communication and lack of structure.

✔ Not listening or responding to commands
✔ Lack of focus and getting easily distracted
✔ Not coming when called (recall issues)

✔ Pulling on the leash or no control on walks
✔ Jumping on people or guests
✔ Overreacting (barking, reactivity to dogs, people, movement)

✔ Hyperactivity and inability to settle
✔ Destructive behavior (chewing, digging, damaging the home)
✔ Struggles with crate training or being left alone

✔ Ignoring house rules (boundaries, doors, furniture, begging)
✔ Difficulty staying calm around kids, visitors, or busy environments

We turn confusion into clear, reliable behavior your dog understands.

How Our Obedience Training Works

We start in your home — where your dog can learn without pressure.

Once the foundation is clear, we gradually move into real-world environments where behavior is tested and strengthened.

Pup’s & Paws Dog Training provides in-home sessions across Suwanee, Buford, Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Lawrenceville, Duluth, Sugar Hill, and Gwinnett County.

✔ Public parks with kids, dogs, and wildlife
✔ Dog-friendly stores
✔ Downtown and busy areas
✔ Controlled exposure to real-life distractions

✔ Build focus and listening at home first
✔ Gradually increase distractions step-by-step
✔ Teach your dog how to stay calm around real triggers
✔ Practice in environments that actually matter

Training is tailored to your dog and your goals — not a one-size-fits-all program.

What Our Clients Are Saying

Basic and Advanced Obedience Training FAQ

Where does training take place?

Training starts in your home to build clear understanding without distractions.

Once your dog is ready, we move into real-life environments like public parks, dog-friendly stores, and downtown areas. This allows your dog to practice around kids, dogs, wildlife, and everyday situations.

When can training start?

Training can start as early as 8 weeks old. Starting early helps build strong foundations.

Is my dog too old for training?

No. We’ve successfully trained dogs up to 16 years old. Age does not limit your dog’s ability to learn.

Do you train all dogs?

We work with all breeds, sizes, and ages.

Do you work with aggressive dogs?

We do not train dogs with a bite history or dogs that are a safety risk.

How long are training sessions?

Each session is about 1 hour and focused on your dog, your home, and your goals.

What areas do you serve?

We provide dog training in Suwanee, Buford, Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Duluth, Lawrenceville, Sugar Hill, and surrounding Gwinnett County areas.

What does obedience training include?

Obedience training covers listening skills, commands, leash training, impulse control, focus, and working through distractions in real environments.

What do I need for training?

Please have treats ready, a leash, and a collar or harness. If you already have a crate, make it accessible for training. If you do not have one yet, that is completely fine.

Will I be part of the training?

Yes. You will learn how to communicate clearly with your dog so results carry over into daily life.

How quickly will I see progress?

Many owners notice improvement quickly once they start applying the training consistently. The earlier you start, the easier it usually is.
